Meet Gemma, an SMSF auditor at Superannuation Audit Services since 2021. With a background influenced by family and friends in accounting, Gemma found her passion in the industry. She enjoys exploring Melbourne's culinary scene, with HER bar being a favourite spot. 

What sparked your interest in accounting?
Having family and friends in the industry, therefore they were able to provide tips to go down this pathway.

 

Your favourite place to eat / drink in Melbourne:
There are so many great options however, I think HER bar would have to be my favourite spot for food and drinks.

 

What is your favourite way to spend a day off?
Spending time with family and friends which usually involves trying new restaurants, cafes and bars.

 

What do you enjoy most about your role and the team you work with?
I enjoy that I’m always learning new things and that every SMSF is different, so it keeps my role interesting. Also, having such a friendly team/ bosses makes the work more enjoyable and creates a great environment to work in.

 

Can you share a memorable moment from your career that highlights the impact of your work on clients?
Hearing satisfied clients happy with the work we have provided is always encouraging.

 

In your opinion, what sets Superannuation Audit Services apart in the world of SMSF auditing?
The quality and fast turnaround of SMSF’s and the personalised service we provide stand out to me. 

 

Outside of work, what are your interests or hobbies that keep you busy in your free time?
My main hobby outside of work is sewing. In my free time, I love to spend it sewing or getting inspiration for a new sewing project.

 

What's your favourite spot in Melbourne to unwind after a long work day?
The beach, my go-to spot is Half Moon Bay, Blackrock.
