GET TO KNOW NATASHA

17 July 2024

Introducing Natasha, Junior Auditor

What sparked your interest in accounting?

I took a business elective in year 9, not expecting to enjoy it, but I found that seeing the way people choose to spend their money was actually really fascinating. Although the numbers don’t particularly interest me, the stories behind them do.

Your favourite place to eat / drink in Melbourne:

Really any place that does bubble tea, but I especially love an Italian Restaurant in Hawthorn called ‘Mother Dough’. Their seafood hot pot is to die for!

What is your favourite way to spend a day off?

Usually spending time with friends and family makes me really happy, particularly if there is good food and board games involved!

What do you enjoy most about your role and the team you work with?

I’m very fortunate to work with my family, so the workplace atmosphere is really warm. Spending time with my family and team is definitely a real highlight.

How do you stay updated with the ever-evolving SMSF regulations and auditing standards in Australia?

I’m very fortunate to work in the same office as my experienced boss, who keeps up to date with all that’s happening in the world of SMSFs. As I’m still being trained, she breaks down all the changes in easy-to-understand formats.

What are your interests or hobbies that keep you busy in your free time?

Watercolour painting and art in general are my favourite hobbies to pursue. They give me a chance to zone out from the world and create something (hopefully) beautiful.

Share a fun fact or an interesting hidden talent that your colleagues might not know about you.

I play the alto saxophone! I started in high school, but I recently joined a band with some friends and I’m loving being able to play again.

What's your favourite spot in Melbourne to unwind after a long day of work?

I am partial to the Melbourne Central Shopping Centre, as that’s just down the road from where I went to high school. I love all the cute shops and incredible food Melbourne has to offer particularly the frozen yoghurt.

Name one word or phrase that best represents your approach to work in SMSF auditing.

Learning. Having just started I’m finding the world of SMSFs a very unfamiliar yet exciting place, so I’m focusing on learning as much as possible about the work we do and I’m enjoying it very much.
